Amsterdam and Prague workshop report – and dates for 2014!

The final two stops on the Making Outstanding Images workshop tour for 2013 were Amsterdam, at the end of September, and Prague, at the beginning of October. The course now lasts four days, and by all accounts, is intensive – I’m trying to make it easier, but there really is quite a bit of knowledge that has to go in 🙂 Read on to see how it went.

New video workshops: How To See Ep1, and The Compact Camera Masterclass

Thanks to the fantastic response to the first two workshop videos – ‘The Fundamentals’ and ‘Making Outstanding Images: Episode One’, we’ve now produced two more – ‘How To See Ep1: Kuala Lumpur‘, and The Compact Camera Masterclass.

And of course I’m putting on special pricing for the launch month – see below for trailers and details!

Coming soon, redux!

Two of the workshop videos we shot at the start of this month have now completed production and will be available very soon – by popular demand, “How To See, Episode 1: Kuala Lumpur”, and a after the break, a curveball: “The Compact Camera Masterclass”. Tomorrow we return to the regular business of reviews with the final instalment of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 trilogy – the 12-40/2.8.  Enjoy! MT

Edit: trailers have been updated with less noisy versions.

One slot opened for the Prague workshop…

_M9P1_L1006378 copy

Prague – 2-5 October: one four-day seat left at a special price of $1,900 instead of $2,150! You can of course take any combination of days you wish, too.

A place has opened up due to a participant’s work commitments conflicting…if you were on the fence before, hopefully this will give you an incentive!

The syllabus will still follow the core fundamentals from the USA tour: throw everything you thought you knew about photography out the window, and start again. All you need is a camera and a couple of perspectives – one wide, one tele. It could be either end of a zoom on a compact, or it could be medium format and a couple of primes – it’s up to you. What I’ll be teaching is subject independent: make great images, any time, with any subject, any camera. Put it this way: it’s easy to spend thousands on equipment that you may use a handful of times a year, but what about the knowledge that lets you make the most of that equipment, in any situation?

The Singapore and USA workshop reports are here and here respectively.

For full details and to make a booking, click here. Thanks! MT

July 2013 Singapore workshop report

_G000192 copy

This workshop very nearly turned into ‘how to shoot under atmospheric haze’ – but thankfully the airborne remnants of Indonesia’s forest-clearing lifted at the eleventh hour, and we enjoyed two days of spectacular weather. Even when rain threatened during lunch on the second day, the clouds miraculously lifted. Perhaps it was the collective power of 18 prospectively very angry and disappointed people that did it, or maybe the chicken I sacrificed before driving down. In any case, read on to see what we got up to.
