This article is the first in a new series of photoessays – a short series of 5-10 images, a small amount of words, and a return to putting the focus on the pictures rather than just the how-tos and equipment masturbations. After all, the final image is what it’s all about.
Ginza, Tokyo is known for two things: being a temple to the height of luxury consumerism, and having the most expensive real estate on earth. Here’s an amuse-bouche for the upcoming Tokyo workshop with Leica. MT
Series shot at various times with the Nikon D3 and D200

Thanks! Come join us for the Tokyo workshop 🙂
You’ve come a long way since when these photos were taken. The composition and PP seems very rough, compared to the silky smooth skillz you have now.
Thanks. These were shot in mid 2007 or early 2009; if I haven’t improved since then I think I’d be unfit to run the workshop! Also, there’s a reason for this (and more to come) work from the archives: I’m starting work on a series of articles about influences, understanding your vision, reprocessing (and why I never do it) and the like in the near future. But first, it needs some groundwork.
