Benched, and a very regretful garage sale

_8B37840 copy

In October last year I was in an accident that landed up pulling some ligaments and tearing a couple of discs in my lower back. The doctors say these things are supposed to heal by themselves over time, but a) it could be a long time and b) there’s always the possibility it won’t go back to how it was before. I was also told that prolonged heavy lifting of the photographic sort was most definitely out for the next year at least. I hoped to be stubborn enough to ride it out and go back to normal, but given three months later I’m still on Arcoxia twice a day, things are not looking good. I’m mobile enough to do most of what I usually do, but 20kg gear days are over for me.

It is with great sadness therefore that I have come to the conclusion it no longer makes sense for me to keep the Hasselblad H system since it’s physically impossible for me to shoot with it for more than an hour without serious pain. (Fortunately, I still have a full X system). It’s just too expensive an asset to keep idly depreciating.

As is usual with these things, my loss is your gain, and what is probably going to be a once in a lifetime chance for the right buyer. The following items are available, and I would much prefer to sell them as a set (or at least the camera body and a few of the lenses first). Multiple items can be bundled and discounted, please (email me). The condition of everything is nearly new, or as new, and fully functional. I have boxes for everything but the H6D-100c (left that in Sweden as there was no space in luggage to bring it back when I collected the camera). I am the first owner. Bonus: all equipment has the benefit of being best-of-sample selected at HQ and lenses were adjusted to match perfectly to the camera with AF being spot on wide open.

Prices are in US Dollars and are reflective of item condition and general market conditions. Payment is via bank wire only above $5,000, or Paypal or bank wire below that. Shipping and insurance to be arranged once we figure out what’s going where; I have corporate rates on both. Please email me to buy, if you have questions or would like additional images of anything.

    1. Hasselblad H6D-100c body with a bunch of expensive extras: focusing screen with 16:9, 2.4:1 and square crop marks (installed); plain focusing screen; 6 original batteries total; additional charger; Markins L bracket; 64GB CFAST card; all cables etc (just no box). This is the same camera that was used in my Thaipusam and Koenigsegg BTS videos. Shutter count is approximately 6,500. Total current value of this is somewhere in the region of $35,000 new.- Sold
    2. Hasselblad HCD 35-90/4-5.6 orange dot – Sold
    3. Hasselblad H Extension tubes 13, 26 – Sold
    4. Hasselblad V-H (CF) adaptor and extra PC sync cable – Sold
    5. Hasselblad HCD 24/4.8 – Sold
    6. Hasselblad HC 100/2.2 – Sold
    7. Hasselblad HC 150/3.2 N orange dot – sold

Sep 2016 Garage sale: all gone, thanks!

Despite how this may appear, no, I have not lost my mind. I’m simply (rationally) moving along the things I haven’t used in six months or more; photography for me must run as a business, too. Which is why it’s best for me to allow other people the opportunity to enjoy the stuff I’m not using – plus I’m feeling the slight guilt of underutilisation, and the Alpa FPS is really, really expensive…

In summary, here’s what’s available:

  1. Nikon AI-S 58/1.2 Noct-Nikkor, with original hood Sold pending payment
  2. Leica Q Typ 116 (review), with extras Sold
  3. Nikon F2 Titan Sold
  4. Carl Zeiss Contax/Yashica 2.8/35 PC Distagon AEG Sold
  5. Novoflex C/Y to Sony E adaptor Sold

Full details after the jump, and first come first served. I don’t expect these items to stick around very long. Prices are in USD.

Jan 2015 garage sale: there’s a lot of interesting stuff here…(all gone!)

jan15 garage sale 2

I somehow managed to acquire a lot of gear during 2014. I suppose it’s something that happens to us all on a fairly regular basis; but there needs to be some rationalisation for a couple of reasons: firstly, I’ve got the hypothetical too many ways to get to Rome, but more importantly, we need to buy a house in the very near future. Sadly, since money is not an infinite resource, I have to prioritise and many things will have to go. That means you, my dear readers, will be the first to benefit. As with all lenses and bodies, you stand to gain not just the effort spent in hunting, but the effort spent in finding and QC’ing a good copy – sample variation does make a significant difference, and if I’m going to use it for my own work, I’m going to spend quite a lot of time making sure it delivers the results I expect. These lenses/bodies are all good copies.

As usual, first (payment) come, first served. Shipping is not included and will of course depend on your location, but I will only use an insured courier. PayPal is fine, but for items over $2,000, I will need a bank transfer as I land up taking a huge 8-9% hit after fees and exchange rates. Images were all shot recently and reflect current condition of equipment; no retouching has been done – visible white dots are dust, and watermarks are because I’ve had far too many equipment images stolen in the past. Black tape is because I like my cameras that way, and of course leaves no marks. If you’d like to buy something, please send me an email…

Update, 17 Jan: All gone – thanks everybody!

Garage sale time again!

nov2013 garage sale

Following on from the last couple of days’ musings, it’s about time for a clearout. This is your opportunity to get equipment that has been tested, QC’d and used by me – so you know it’s good. The overwhelming reasons for me disposing of gear are consolidation and upgrades. So, without further ado, on to the items. Please send me an email if you would like to buy something; from historical experience, don’t wait too long as everything is usually gone within a day or two. Those who’ve bought from me before know that I tend to rate my gear very, very conservatively. Feel free to make me an offer if you’d like multiple items, or you think my prices are out of whack.

Please note: items are first-come first served; Paypal fees are included but shipping is not (it will of course depend on your geographic location, impatience level and risk appetite 🙂 Any white dots in the images are dust; they have not been retouched in the interests of authenticity. Lastly, I’m happy to do a face to face transaction if you happen to be in Kuala Lumpur.

Garage sale time – UPDATE: All sold, thanks!

I’ve got far too much stuff in my dryboxes; it’s time to let somebody else enjoy the bits of gear I’m not using. Up for sale today, we have five items; prices are in USD excluding shipping (depends on where and how you’d like it sent, of course) but including PayPal fees (you can use a credit card, too; let me know and I’ll send you a checkout link). Everything is in perfect working order and has been QC’d by me personally. If you’re interested in any of the items or have a question, please email me. Same goes if you think my prices are out of whack – make me an offer! Thanks, MT
